From Silver Dust to Shine: A New Collection Begins

Every so often, something in the studio surprises me. This time, it wasn’t a new stone or texture—it was the silver dust that gathers after hours of sawing, filing, and sanding. Instead of sweeping it away, I decided to see what would happen if I gave it a new life.

I started by pouring a fresh ingot of sterling silver and rolling it into a smooth sheet. Then came the careful work of sifting through my silver shavings, removing anything impure until the fine, clean dust remained.

That dust—ordinary at first glance—became the heart of this design. I fused it onto the surface of the sheet until it rippled and took on a softly reticulated texture, like the surface of river stones or bark after rain.

From there, I cut the shapes, refined their edges, filed, polished, and shaped the ear wires by hand. The result is something both organic and modern—simple forms that hold quiet depth.

This pair of earrings marks the beginning of a small, evolving collection. In the coming weeks, I’ll be adding a matching adjustable ring, a cuff, and a necklace that will feature a single gemstone—still deciding which one feels right for the story.

It’s all about transformation—turning what might have been discarded into something beautiful and enduring.
