Soft Greens, Desert Blues, and a Little Studio Magic

Some days the bench just calls for stones.

Lately I’ve been working through a small batch of turquoise and variscite — those beautiful natural greens and blues that always remind me of wide open landscapes and quiet places in nature.

The colors range from soft sage greens to deeper turquoise blues, each stone with its own little patterns and personality. That’s the thing I love most about working with natural stones… no two are ever quite the same.

This latest group includes a mix of designs, from simple everyday studs to longer earrings that add a little movement and texture.

Each piece is handmade here in my Vermont studio using sterling and fine silver. And because every stone is naturally unique, each finished piece has its own character.

Sometimes I plan exactly what I’m going to make.

Other times I just start pulling stones out of their little bags and let them tell me what they want to become.

This batch was definitely the second kind.
