What Does “One of a Kind” Really Mean?

So, here’s the thing: we’ve all heard the phrase “one of a kind” used to describe handmade work. And while it sounds beautiful, in my studio it means something a little different.
Each piece of jewelry I make starts as raw metal and is shaped, soldered, and polished by hand. Even when I create the same design more than once, no two pieces ever turn out exactly the same. A line of texture shifts just slightly, a curve settles in a unique way, or a stone has its own natural markings. That’s the beauty of slow, handmade work—you’ll always have something that carries its own quiet fingerprint.

That’s why I’ve moved toward offering many designs as made to order. You’ll see the same style, but yours will have those tiny differences that make it feel truly personal. It’s not “mass-produced” uniformity—it’s handmade individuality.
And then there’s my Stone & Spirit Collection. These are in a category of their own because the gemstones truly are one of a kind. Each stone is shaped by nature and carefully cut by lapidary artists I love working with. The patterns in a jasper, the shimmer in a moonstone, or the depth of turquoise—none of those can be replicated. When a piece sells, I can sometimes make another in the same design, but the stone will never look exactly like the one before. That’s what makes these pieces feel like tiny treasures, chosen just for you.

So when you wear Divella Designs jewelry, you’re not just wearing a piece of art—you’re wearing your version of it.
