A Necklace, A Donkey, and a Day They’ll Never Forget

Some pieces leave the studio quietly.
Others carry a story with them.

This was one of those.

It began as part of an auction to support Save Your Ass Rescue—a piece shaped by hand, inspired by those long ears and gentle spirits, and created with the hope that it might do a little good beyond the bench.

When the auction ended, I thought that was the end of its story.

But it turns out… it was just the beginning.

One of the bidders had missed out.
But the piece stayed with him.

He reached out afterward, wanting to gift something meaningful to his wife. Something connected to the same love for these incredible animals. So a necklace made its way from my bench to their home—already carrying a story of its own.

And then today, I received this message:

“We had just adopted a very special donkey from Save Your Ass Rescue… and my husband surprised me with this amazing handmade necklace. It’s absolutely stunning… It’s so special.”

The necklace arrived on the very same day they brought their donkey home.

Not planned.
Not coordinated.
Just… one of those moments.

The kind that reminds me why I do this.

Jewelry, at its core, isn’t just something you wear.
It becomes part of your life. Your memories. Your milestones.

And sometimes—if you’re really lucky—you get to be a small part of something much bigger.

This was one of those times.
