A Quiet Vermont Morning Moment
Share
here are some mornings when the yard seems to wake up before the rest of us.
This little moment was caught on the yard cam around 5 AM — a deer running across the hill while the world was still quiet and barely light. The footage isn’t perfect. It was taken through the screen, so it has that slightly hazy, softened look that yard cam videos sometimes have.
But honestly, I kind of love that about it.
It feels like exactly what it was: a quick, half-dreamy glimpse of wildlife passing through before the day had really begun.
Living in rural Vermont means the yard is never entirely ours. It belongs to the birds, the squirrels, the foxes, the woodchucks, the deer, and whoever else decides to wander through. Some visitors are bold enough to come right up to the window. Others, like this deer, are just passing by in the early morning light.
I never quite know what the yard cam is going to catch. Sometimes it’s funny, sometimes it’s ordinary, and sometimes it’s just a quiet reminder that there is a whole world moving around out there while we’re still asleep.
This was one of those moments.
A deer, a hillside, a soft Vermont morning, and a few seconds of wildness caught on camera.
