Custom Orders — How They Happen (and Why I Rarely Do Them)

So, here’s the thing: every so often I get asked if I take custom orders. The short answer? Sometimes… but rarely.

Here’s why: custom work sounds simple on the surface, but it often means setting aside everything else in the studio to design something completely new from scratch. It takes time to sketch, source specific materials, and make sure it matches the exact vision in someone’s head—time that can stretch into weeks before I even touch the torch. And because my pieces are handmade one at a time, that’s energy I’d normally be pouring into collections that flow together and tell a bigger story.

That said, there are a few occasions when I do say yes:

  • When someone has a strong connection to a stone (for example, a family gem or something meaningful they’ve held onto).

  • When it’s a variation on an existing design (say, a different chain length or a favorite stone swapped in).

  • Or when it’s one of my fur charms—those are deeply personal, and I’m honored every time I’m asked.

But here’s the real truth: what I love most is creating collections that are cohesive, inspired by nature, and ready for you to connect with in your own way. That’s where I get to be at my most creative—letting the stones, the silver, and the fire guide me.

So, while custom orders will always have a little place in my heart, Divella Designs really thrives in the space between artistry and intuition—where each piece feels both intentional and a little bit surprising.
