From Forgotten to Flourishing: The Story of the Flower & Leaf Pendant

Jewelry-making is full of surprises—sometimes a piece sits on the bench, waiting for its moment to shine. This Flower & Leaf Pendant is one of those pieces.

For a while, it lingered in my studio, unfinished and uncertain. The sterling silver design was there, featuring a delicate leaf and floral motif, but something felt incomplete. It needed more—more depth, more presence, and a final touch to truly bring it to life.

Breathing New Life into an Old Design

Instead of letting it collect dust, I finally gave this piece the attention it deserved. I soldered a backplate, adding substance and a beautiful frame to the design. The bail was attached to ensure it could be worn effortlessly. And finally, I set a brilliant moissanite stone at the heart of the flower—a tiny spark of light to complete the look.

The Result: A Timeless, One-of-a-Kind Pendant

This pendant is a perfect example of how abandoned work can evolve into something truly special. The deep oxidized background enhances the details of the floral elements, giving it a striking contrast, while the moissanite adds just the right amount of shimmer.

 

A Reminder That Creativity Takes Time

As artists, we often feel the pressure to complete pieces quickly, but sometimes, the best work comes when we let an idea rest. This pendant is a reminder that art unfolds in its own time—and when it finally does, the result can be even better than we originally imagined.
