Take a walk in nature, deep in the woods, and you are likely to see lichen growing on the rocks and trees. This is exactly where the inspiration for this pendant comes from!
I begin with pure copper sheet and vitreous enamel (finely ground glass powder) then fired in a kiln at 1450°-1500° to fuse the glass to the metal. After multiple firings they were ground and sanded smooth and polished.
The entire pendant measures 2.5 inches (63.5mm) and is 1.25 inches (31.75mm) wide. There is an artisan created lampwork atop the enameled disc below. I created the chain in Viking Knit with copper wire. The clasp is a heavy duty magnetic so it's easy to put on and remove.
Due to the process used in this technique, another cannot be made.
